For learning

Are you tired of reading boring and intricate Soviet Volumes? These sites will help you to ease this burden!

Online Med Ed

This site was created by Dr. Dustin Williams. It is edited by physicians and other health professionals, each of whom wants to help provide quality medical education and make knowledge easily accessible to medical students, with an emphasis on the clinic and STEP 2 and 3. Williams notes that their mission is to change the approach to the delivery of medical education, to how medical universities deliver it and how students perceive it. They want students to be able to use what they have learned in practice. This is achieved by providing information more simply, quickly, and reliably.
The site is very extensive and includes free videos from disciplines such as traumatology, pediatrics, nephrology, endocrinology, and infectious diseases, as well as an Intern Content section where individual diseases (kidney failure, chronic heart failure, etc.), patient parameters (eg, electrolytes) or specific signs and symptoms of diseases (delirium, weakness or hemoptysis). All in all, this is a great site to learn from years of medical school.

Picmonics

The term “picmonics” is short for “pictorial mnemonics” and is a company founded in Arizona by medical students with a team of illustrators, writers, and medical reviewers. Picmonica was developed to facilitate the management of the vast amount of clinical information required for medical practice. This resource uses a large number of pictures with a series of mnemonic techniques to help students learn. It covers fundamental scientific disciplines such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, and epidemiology. There are also books available for purchase to prepare for the USMLE. The illustrations used for Picmonics are very bright and easy to remember, and the authors have a good sense of humor.

Statement about information provision of educational activities in the field of higher education of the Private higher educational institution “International Academy of Ecology and Medicine”

The development of modern computer devices greatly facilitates the activities of teachers and students and gives them access to a huge amount of scientific and educational materials online. Therefore, the provision of information to the students of the academy is provided by textbooks and educational aids on electronic resources. Every student has the opportunity to receive textbooks in electronic form at the beginning of the academic year.
The Academy has access to the resources of the National Scientific Medical Library of Ukraine (Clause 36 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of December 30, 2015 No. 1187 as amended on May 10, 2018), thanks to which students can use the system of reading rooms, which includes one general and four special reading rooms, where more than 300 readers can work at the same time. The paper stock of the library is more than 1,575,000 copies, of which about 400,000 are foreign publications, more than 240,000 patent documents, and about 160,000 abstracts and dissertations. The library offers users electronic resources on CD and DVD, as well as remote access resources (more than 50 bibliographic and full-text databases and separate electronic journals and books). The fund for electronic documents of the library consists of: editions on CD and DVD — about 1,000 units; external electronic resources (books, magazines, and newspapers) totaling more than 120,000 titles. Conditions have been created for access to open universal educational bases (open, paid and with licensed access: Acronym Finder, African Index Medicus, AHFS Consumer Medication Information (EBSCO), Bio One, Bioline International, BioMed Central (databases and journals), BioProject, BioSample, BioSystems, Bookshelf, Cambridge University Press, ClinVar Search database, Clone DB, De Gruyter Open, Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), EBSCO, EBSCO – AHFS Consumer Medication Information, ERIC (Education Resource Information Center), Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB), eMPendium, Free Medical Journals, FreeFullPDF, Google books, Google Scholar, HighWire Press, HINARI, Hindawi Publishing Journals, InTech, Journals4Free, Medknow, Nature Publishing Group, OpenDOAR – Directory of Open Access Repositories, Pediatric Neurology Briefs, PLoS Journals – Public Library of Science Journals, PubMed, Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR), SpringerOpen, Structure (NCBI), Taylor & Francis, The British Library, The Cochrane Library, UNdata, Wiley Open Access, WorldWideScience.org, laser dentistry Academy, AMA, Scientific electronic library of periodicals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Scientific periodicals of Ukraine (URAN), Scientific periodicals of Ukraine (NBUV), Scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU), scientific periodicals from both domestic and foreign medicine. Open access electronic resources, including the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), SpringerOpen, Wiley Open Access, Medknow (Wolters Kluwer Health), etc., contain more than 100,000 titles of authoritative scientific documents.
Library specialists offer their users a wide range of services. Among the main services is the issuing for use of documents from the library’s funds. All publications in the general reading room are publicly accessible. The library also has a subscription where you can get documents for use outside the library. In addition to paper documents, the library offers users access to electronic resources — authoritative scientific databases, journals, books, reports, etc. Use of prepaid license resources (EBSCO, Hinari, BioOne, etc.) is possible only from computers in the library premises. The use of open-access resources is free on the Internet. Access is organized through a separate page on the website of the library “E-resources A-Z”. Library specialists provide high-quality reference and bibliographic services, provide targeted, thematic, clarifying, and factual bibliographic references, as well as conduct bibliographic consultations on medicine and related fields of knowledge. References and consultations are provided in oral and written forms. Simple oral bibliographic references and consultations are provided to users free of charge. In recent years, the library has significantly expanded the range of services provided using information technologies. Users have access to the Internet both from stationary computers installed in the library and from their own laptops, tablets, or other devices via WiFi wireless Internet. The service of electronic delivery of documents (EDD) is becoming popular. Users can order delivery and receive a digital copy of an article, fragment, or chapter of a publication from the print collection or full-text databases that are available at the library. In 2014, the library’s website was recognized as the best library website in the All-Ukrainian competition of library Internet sites of the Ukrainian Library Association. Information is available in three languages: Ukrainian, English, and Polish. Through the website, the library offers new virtual services. Now users can order electronic delivery of documents, tours of the library, etc. through online forms.
A new service has also been introduced – online help, which works in chat mode with a librarian. Users can get help with library resources and services not only in person, by phone, or e-mail, but also in real-time online. The library’s electronic catalog is freely available on the Internet 24/7. In addition to the electronic catalog, you can familiarize yourself with the library’s printed collections through the “New arrivals” database, which is organized by 25 thematic categories, and through “Virtual book exhibitions”. The library provides a wide range of services for copying and printing materials: users can make a paper or digital copy of materials, save files to a flash drive, or print documents. Digital copies can also be sent to the user’s email.
The library also offers the service of determining codes according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) for articles and abstracts of theses in medicine and related sciences. The unique service of the library is high-quality professional two-way written and oral translations, as well as editing of translations of scientific and medical literature and documents in foreign languages.
As can be seen from the above material, the amount of medical literature and professional periodicals, and the information provision of students and teachers meet the regulatory requirements.
