Horizon Europe — Investment in Research and Innovation

Horizon Europe — the European Union’s main program for funding research and innovation for the period 2021–2027. Its goal is to support scientific development, address global challenges, strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, and stimulate interdisciplinary cooperation. Research and innovation+1

• Program budget for 2021–2027 — approximately 93.5 billion euros. Research and innovation+1
• The program has a structure of three pillars:
  1. Excellent Science
  2. Global Challenges & European Industrial Competitiveness

• Horizon Europe also includes missions (EU Missions) — large-scale initiatives with clear goals (for example, fighting climate change, restoring oceans, smart cities, etc.). Research and innovation+2Research and innovation+2
• There is a mechanism for association of non-EU countries, which allows them to participate on terms similar to member countries. Research and innovation
• The program is implemented through work programs (Work Programmes), which define open competitions in various thematic clusters. Research and innovation+1

How to Get Involved

• Familiarize yourself with Horizon Europe work programs (Work Programmes) regarding clusters, grant competitions, tender publications. Research and innovation
• Check if MAEM can join as an associated institution, if the country has the appropriate status. Research and innovation+1
• Submit applications for competitions through the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal.
