1. General Provisions

1.1. The Rules of Conduct for Students of MAEM (hereinafter referred to as the Rules) define the basic standards of conduct, rights, responsibilities, and principles of interaction among participants in the educational process.

1.2. The Rules are aimed at creating a safe, friendly, and supportive educational environment, ensuring the proper organization of the educational process, fostering mutual respect, responsibility, academic integrity, and a culture of communication.

1.3. These Rules apply to all students regardless of the form of study.

1.4. Students are required to comply with these Rules during classes, breaks, consultations, practical training, educational and cultural events, distance learning, as well as while staying on the MAEM premises.

1.5. Students’ conduct is based on the following principles:

• respect for the honor and dignity of every person;
• equality and non-discrimination;
• responsibility for one’s own actions;
• academic integrity;
• mutual assistance and goodwill;
• compliance with the legislation of Ukraine and MAEM internal regulations;
• careful treatment of property and the environment.

2. Rights of Students

2.1. Students have the right to:

• quality and accessible educational services;
• safe and harmless learning conditions;
• respect for human dignity;
• protection from physical and psychological violence, bullying, discrimination, humiliation, and exploitation;
• fair and impartial assessment of learning outcomes;
• receive information about the educational process, assessment criteria, class schedules, and educational program requirements;
• use classrooms, library collections, information resources, and equipment in accordance with the established procedure;
• express their own opinions in an appropriate and respectful manner;
• contact the administration and teaching staff with suggestions, applications, or complaints;
• participate in public life and educational, scientific, cultural, sports, and other activities;
• protection of personal data and privacy in accordance with the law;
• other rights provided for by the legislation of Ukraine and MAEM internal regulations.

3. Responsibilities of Students

3.1. Students are required to:

• approach their studies and completion of the educational program responsibly;
• attend classes regularly and avoid absences without valid reasons;
• complete academic assignments on time;
• comply with the principles of academic integrity;
• comply with the lawful requirements of the administration, teaching staff, and other responsible persons;
• respect the rights, honor, and dignity of all participants in the educational process;
• comply with ethical standards of conduct and a culture of communication;
• report reasons for absence from classes in accordance with the established procedure;
• comply with occupational safety, fire safety, civil protection, and sanitary and hygienic regulations;
• take care of MAEM property and the personal belongings of others;
• maintain cleanliness and order in the premises and on the institution’s territory;
• not create threats to the life, health, or safety of other persons;
• take care of the reputation of MAEM, including when communicating publicly and using social media.

4. Rules of Conduct During the Educational Process

4.1. Students must arrive at classes on time, have the necessary learning materials, and be prepared to work.

4.2. Arriving late or leaving a class early is permitted only for a valid reason and with the permission of the teaching staff member.

4.3. During classes, students must:

• maintain a productive learning environment;
• listen attentively to explanations;
• complete assignments and follow the instructions of the teaching staff member;
• not interfere with other participants in the educational process;
• ask questions and express opinions in an appropriate and respectful manner;
• comply with the rules for using equipment, technology, and educational materials.

4.4. Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be switched to silent mode during classes. Their use is permitted for educational purposes or with the permission of the teaching staff member.

4.5. Photo, video, or audio recording of participants in the educational process may only be carried out with their consent, except in cases provided for by law.

4.6. In the event of an emergency, students must remain calm and follow the instructions of responsible staff members.

5. Conduct During Distance Learning

5.1. During distance learning, students are required to:

• join online classes on time;
• use their real first and last name in their profile;
• follow the rules of professional and ethical communication;
• not share links, passwords, or restricted-access materials with third parties;
• not record or distribute classes without permission;
• not publish personal data, photographs, correspondence, or other materials of participants in the educational process without their consent;
• use educational platforms and chats exclusively for their intended purpose.

5.2. Offensive messages, threats, spam, provocations, cyberbullying, and other forms of inappropriate behavior in the digital environment are not permitted.

6. Academic Integrity

6.1. Students must adhere to the principles of honesty, independence, responsibility, and respect for authorship.

6.2. Violations of academic integrity include, in particular:

• academic plagiarism;
• self-plagiarism;
• fabrication or falsification of data;
• cheating;
• deception when completing academic assignments or undergoing assessment;
• presenting another person’s work as one’s own;
• use of prohibited materials and technical devices;
• providing unauthorized assistance to other students;
• unfair assistance in obtaining learning outcomes.

6.3. The use of digital tools and artificial intelligence systems is permitted in accordance with the assignment and the requirements of the teaching staff member. Students are responsible for the accuracy, independence, and quality of the submitted work.

6.4. When using other people’s texts, ideas, images, research results, or other materials, the source must be properly acknowledged.

7. Communication Culture and Mutual Respect

7.1. Communication among participants in the educational process must be polite, friendly, and constructive.

7.2. The following are not permitted:

• insults, threats, intimidation, or humiliation;
• physical or psychological violence;
• bullying and cyberbullying;
• discrimination on any grounds;
• obscene language and offensive gestures;
• dissemination of false or degrading information;
• deliberate provocation of conflicts;
• harassment and other actions that violate a person’s personal boundaries.

7.3. Conflict situations must be resolved peacefully through dialogue or by contacting a teaching staff member, curator, psychologist, or the administration.

7.4. A person who witnesses bullying, violence, or another dangerous situation must report it to a responsible staff member or the MAEM administration.

8. Appearance

8.1. Students’ appearance must be neat, clean, and comply with generally accepted standards of decency, the format of classes, and safety requirements.

8.2. During practical, laboratory, sports, or other specialized classes, students must use the prescribed clothing, footwear, and personal protective equipment.

8.3. Clothing, accessories, or symbols containing offensive statements, promoting violence, discrimination, or illegal activities, or contradicting generally accepted standards of public morality are not permitted.

9. Careful Treatment of Property

9.1. Students are required to use MAEM premises, furniture, equipment, books, and other material assets with care.

9.2. It is prohibited to move equipment without permission, damage property, or make inscriptions on walls, furniture, or other surfaces.

9.3. Any discovered property damage, equipment malfunction, or dangerous situation must be immediately reported to a MAEM staff member.

9.4. Compensation for damage caused to property shall be carried out in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and the institution’s internal regulations.

10. Prohibited Activities on MAEM Premises

10.1. Students are prohibited from:

• bringing, storing, or using weapons, explosive, flammable, toxic, or other dangerous objects or substances;
• bringing, consuming, or distributing alcoholic beverages, narcotic or psychotropic substances, or their analogues;
• being under the influence of alcohol, narcotic substances, or other intoxicating substances;
• smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and other nicotine-containing products;
• using physical force, engaging in fights, threatening others, or inciting violence;
• gambling;
• damaging property or littering the premises or territory;
• leaving classes or the premises without permission during the educational process if this violates the established procedure;
• disturbing public order;
• committing any unlawful acts.

11. Student Recognition and Incentives

11.1. Students may be recognized or rewarded for diligent study, active participation in MAEM life, scientific, creative, or sports achievements, community activities, and exemplary conduct.

11.2. Forms of recognition and incentives may include:

• oral or written appreciation;
• a certificate or award;
• public recognition of achievements;
• recommendation for participation in competitions, projects, and other activities;
• other forms of recognition provided for by MAEM internal regulations.

12. Responsibility for Violations of the Rules

12.1. In case of violation of these Rules, measures may be applied to a student depending on the nature and circumstances of the violation.

12.2. Such measures may include:

• an oral remark;
• a written warning;
• an individual discussion;
• notification of parents or legal representatives, where provided by law;
• a requirement to compensate for material damage caused;
• other measures provided for by the legislation of Ukraine and MAEM internal regulations.

12.3. When considering a violation, its circumstances, severity, consequences, recurrence, and the student’s explanation shall be taken into account.

12.4. The application of any measures must not humiliate the honor or dignity of the student.

12.5. In the event of signs of an administrative or criminal offense, the MAEM administration shall act in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

13. Final Provisions

13.1. Every student must be familiarized with these Rules.

13.2. Ignorance of the Rules does not exempt a student from responsibility for their violation.

13.3. Matters not regulated by these Rules shall be resolved in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and MAEM internal regulations.

13.4. The Rules may be supplemented or amended due to changes in legislation, conditions of the educational process, or internal regulations of the institution.

13.5. Compliance with these Rules is a shared condition for creating a safe, comfortable, and friendly educational environment at MAEM.
